Paris Presbyterian Church
Announcements, week of 9-26-2021
THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3. . .
. . . is World Communion Sunday, when churches of many denominations all over the world gather at the Lord’s table on the same day (Oct. 3). The service will also feature the return of THE CHOIR!
We will collect the Presbyterian Church USA’s “Peace and Global Witness Offering” (formerly called “Peacemaking”) on Sunday, October 3. Each congregation is asked to designate 25% of the offering, to go to a local effort to promote “health, wellness, and harmony” (the biblical definition of “peace”). This year our 25% will be divided between HOPE Domestic Violence services, which has an office in Paris (in addition to its “home base” in Charleston), and the “Survivor Resource Center: Healing After Sexual Assault” – which has the office next door to HOPE, at 108 S. Central.
Memorial Service:
The family of Ilse Smilie invites you to attend a Memorial Service for her, at 10 AM Saturday, October 2, at the Paris Presbyterian Church, 241 W. Court St., Paris, IL. At this point, the family is requesting that masks be worn for the service.
October is our month again to volunteer to help with the Community Clothing Closet. A sign-up sheet is in the back of the church; volunteers are needed from 11:45 to 2:30, on whichever Tuesdays you can make it.
Faith in Action of Edgar County’s annual Spaghetti Dinner will be a drive-through only event again this year, due to COVID, on Friday, October 22. They are looking to the churches for donated desserts once again, and are wondering if we can provide four dozen cookies. If you can help, please put them in baggie packages of two cookies each, so no one else need touch them. They would like them to be delivered to Lake Ridge Church between 9 and 3 on the 22nd. If you can help, please let the church office or Rodger know – also if you need someone else to make the delivery.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU…
